Kim grew up in Columbia, SC, attending Irmo High School, Midlands Tech, and ultimately the University of South Carolina. She spent over 40 years working as an RN in the Columbia community, retiring from that work in 2020.

Kim is married to Bernie Hawkins, and together they have a daughter, Ashley, who currently resides in Charleston, and she is the mama to two fur babies, James Dean, and Elle Woods.

Kim has a genuine love for people and an infectious energy. Her daily prayer is that everything she thinks, says, and does would be found pleasing to the Lord.
